Artificial Intelligence (AI) + Photography

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has made its way into the world of art, and it is causing a stir among photographers and artists alike. With AI art, computers and algorithms are used to create images, and the results are often stunning and thought-provoking. In comparison, photography captures reality, but with AI art, the artist's imagination can run wild, and new forms of expression can emerge.I recently started exploring AI Art from a photographer’s point of view. After spending a few hours I was able to create an image that looks like a photograph. This was of course very fascinating for me. In the next few days I tried pushing my limits, learning to make realistic images. One of the difficulties I have is that it seems I dont have much control on what image comes out, which led me to analyzing the results and learning how to have control on what it generates (most would say it's random). At the moment I dont have 100% control on the images (mostly body positioning, placements, and facial reactions). I have a few theories I’d like to test once I have more time to see if it will work but at the moment that will have to wait.It has been about 2 weeks since my 1st post on Instagram about AI and it gathered some interesting attention, from current and past clients, other artists, brands that wanted to work together, and photographers. I recently had a coffee chat with an old friend that said he was originally hesitant about AI and didn’t see how this could benefit his work but when he saw my post his perspective changed and it inspired him. Another person also told me that they are not in favor of it and believe that those images are not mine because AI created it.Some photographers might view AI art as a threat to their profession, but it can actually be a good thing for them. AI art has the potential to inspire photographers to be more creative and push the boundaries of traditional photography. By seeing the possibilities that AI art offers, photographers can be motivated to find new and innovative ways to capture the world around them.AI art also offers the opportunity for photographers to collaborate with AI artists and create something truly unique. The combination of a photographer's eye for capturing reality and an AI artist's ability to manipulate images can result in captivating works of art that tell a story in a new and innovative way. This collaboration can help photographers expand their skills and learn new techniques, as well as bring their work to a wider audience. In conclusion, AI art is not a threat to photography but an opportunity for photographers to embrace new technologies and be more creative. The rise of AI art can lead to new forms of expression and a greater appreciation of traditional forms of art, including photography. Whether a photographer is looking to be inspired, expand their skills, or reach a wider audience, AI art is a valuable tool that can help them achieve their goals.
